Set on a once-overlooked dual-frontage site, this residence transforms constraint into a defining architectural gesture. Repositioned along the upper street, the home steps deliberately with the terrain, unfolding as a series of staggered volumes that capture expansive views of Lake Tahoe while maintaining privacy and presence. Angular rooflines and offset walls are composed to draw in light and solar gain, giving the structure a strong sense of movement and a purposeful environmental response.
The architecture is driven by a seamless dialogue between interior and exterior. Panoramic glass walls dissolve boundaries, extending the double-height great room and primary living spaces onto a series of terraces and a rooftop deck. Circulation is anchored by an open stair that acts as both connective tissue and sculptural centerpiece, reinforcing the home’s vertical rhythm. A restrained palette of cedar, metal, and stone grounds the composition, allowing form, light, and proportion to take precedence.
Precise in execution yet expressive in form, the project is defined by its response to site—an approach that elevates both experience and performance. What began as a challenging parcel becomes a study in clarity and intent, where architecture and landscape are inseparable.
